dc.description.abstract This paper aims at looking into the indelible impression that the global lingua franca i.e. English has left on Bangla vocabulary. Though geographically the two languages are almost at antipodal positions, in this essay we will see that the English tongue has contributed substantially to the enrichment and development of Bangla lexicon. This language (Bengali) current through an extent of country nearly equal to Great Britain, when properly cultivated, will be inferior to none in elegance and perspicuity.
