Artwork Classification and Recognition System based on Convolutional Neural Network
(Premier University, Chattogram, 2022-05) Dhoom, Tanni; Sayeed, Taufique
From ancient ages, artworks have been the object of research in artist identification. Expert art historians primarily handle this issue manually. But an automatic artist recognition system using artwork is compulsory to lower the error percentage, and only a few progressive efforts are undertaken in this field, especially on Bangladeshi Artists. Our Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model aims to determine the painter of a painting with a satisfactory accuracy standard. There are 450 paintings from 6 well-known Bangladeshi artists comprised in our novel dataset. Two different convolution kernels are used in model design, Model-1 has 3 X 3 convolutional kernels, and Model-2 has 5 X 5 kernel size. Our models achieve significantly higher classification accuracy as 87% for Model-1 and 89% for Model-2. Our result evaluation demonstrates that CNNs is not merely a robust learning tool for artist identification but also effective in predicting unique styles of an artisan.

Uplink Scheduling Algorithms in IEEE 802.16 Broadband Wireless Access Systems: A Survey
(Premier University, Chattogram, 2009) Iqbal, Shahid Md. Asif; Monir, Mohammad Iftekhar; Sayeed, Taufique
WiMAX is one of the most important broadband wireless technologies and is anticipated to be a viable alternative to traditional wired broadband techniques due to its cost efficiency. WiMAX supports multimedia applications such as voice over IP (VoIP), voice conference and online gaming. It is necessary to provide Quality of Service (QoS) guaranteed with different characteristics for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) networks. However, the actual version of the standard does not define a Media Access Control (MAC) scheduling architecture in uplink as well as downlink direction. Efficient scheduling design is left for designers and developers and thus providing QoS for IEEE 802.16 BWA system is a challenge for system developers. The scheduling architecture must ensure good bandwidth utilization, maintain the fairness between users and respond to the constraints of some applications (i.e. video, voice). A good number of articles are available to analyze the performance of the standard. To analyze these studies, a survey based on the scheduling mechanism or method used in the different propositions is presented in this paper. Some studies are based on traditional algorithms and other studies use new methods and mechanisms that are proposed for the new standard in order to provide QoS.

Job Satisfaction and Some Selected Determinants: An Empirical Study
(Premier University, Chattogram, 2009) Haque, Mohammad Moinul; Sayeed, Taufique
This study is conducted to increase our understanding of role played by 'nature of job’, 'pay and promotion', 'colleague' and 'supervisor' in determining the level of job satisfaction in organizations operating in Bangladesh. 355 valid responses were collected from 27 organizations on nine questions. More than 60% of the respondents were found satisfied with their job. Employees who reported themselves as 'satisfied' recorded higher level of agreement for all the independent variables than those who reported themselves as 'dissatisfied'. Multiple Regression .analysis showed that 'interesting job', 'challenging job' and 'scope to increase personal competence' from 'nature of job' viewpoint; and 'quality of supervision, respect and recognition from supervisor' from 'supervisor' viewpoint were statistically highly significant for job satisfaction of employees in Bangladesh.
